NC State CVM’s Inclusion Efforts Win Excellence in Diversity Award

The NC State College of Veterinary Medicine’s work toward inclusion across its college community has been recognized with the 2024 Higher Education in Excellence in Diversity Award for health professions schools.

Insight into Diversity magazine created the award in 2012 to recognize institutions of higher education that have an outstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Our Health Professions HEED Award recipients demonstrate extraordinary resolve in working to build a more equitable, inclusive and diverse campus environment,” said Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of Insight into Diversity. “They also show significant commitment to addressing the gaps in health care disparities through a wide range of community outreach initiatives and by building a culturally competent future workforce.”

Over the past 50 years, the magazine has sought to connect potential employees with colleges and universities that choose to embrace a workforce reflective of their student population and surrounding communities.

Earlier this year, the magazine recognized the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine’s “See You at the CVM!” program with an Inspiring Programs in STEM Award. The outreach event was designed to help undergraduate students dreaming of admission to the college see a more concrete path. Nearly 50 students from Duke University, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, UNC-Pembroke, NC Central and NC A&T State attended the event last December.
