Welcome Class of 2013

Following the traditional White Coat Ceremony, the members of the Class of 2013 are beginning their studies at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The 81-member class of 67 women and 14 men include 65 North Carolina residents and 16 non-residents who come from 13 states. Animal Science is the most popular major among class members with 29 students earning a degree in the field, and there are 28 other major fields of study ranging from art history to cell and molecular biology represented among the remaining 52 students. Seven class members begin their CVM program after earning a master’s (5) or a doctor’s (2) degree.

The Class of 2013 includes Joshua Foster, whose father is Dr. Mitch Foster, CVM ’85. The Class of ’85—first in the history of the NC State CVM—also included Dr. Kirby Jones Harris whose son, Dr. Kevin Jones, graduated with the Class of 2006 as the first CVM “legacy” student.
