Newest Weapon in War on Pet Cancer
“Cancer” is the diagnosis veterinarians hate to give and owners hate to hear. In a good news/bad news scenario, the good news: our pets are living longer thanks to responsible owners and advances in veterinary medicine. The bad news: an estimated 50% of dogs and 33% of cats will develop some form of cancer during their longer lives.
A cancer diagnosis in a companion animal, however, is no longer a hopeless situation, as advancements in the Radiation Oncology Service at NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine are proving.
