Jenna Bunton (Student)
Jenna Bunton received the 2009 US Poultry and Egg Association College Student of the Year Award and Frank Perdue Scholarship, which are presented each year at the College Career Programs of the International Poultry Expo to recognize the top Poultry Science student in the US. The recipient is selected from Poultry Science Departments from across the nation based on letters of recommendation, GPA and extracurricular activities, poultry work experience, and future plans within the poultry industry. Jenna, originally of Hiddenite, North Carolina, is a senior at NCSU double majoring in Poultry Science and Animal Science. Jenna has served as an FFA State officer and president of the NCSU Poultry Science Club. She has worked with the Poultry Health Management Team as a Teaching Assistant and Student Research Assistant. Her research on spinal abscesses in male broiler breeders was presented at the 2008 North Carolina Broiler Breeder and Hatchery Management Conference. As a Food Animal Scholar, Jenna will be attending the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine beginning in August 2009 with the goal of pursuing a Food Animal Medicine career following graduation.
