Executive Director of Development Accepts AKC-CHF Position
Susan Lilly is leaving her position as executive director of development at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine to accept the position of chief executive officer of the AKC Canine Health Foundation. The appointment is effective on October 1.
Lilly joined the College of Veterinary Medicine in July of 2007 to manage the CVM development office and serve as secretary to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Foundation (NCVMF).
“I’ve greatly enjoyed working with Susan Lilly during my first years at NC State, and she leaves a strong legacy behind for the next Development Director” said Dean Paul Lunn.
During Lilly’s tenure, the NCVMF was successful in significantly increasing its endowment and more than doubling the number of donors. Lilly also helped dedicate the Randall B. Terry, Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center, helped coordinate the collection of companion animal focused artwork for the Terry Center, and assisted in the process involved in the securing the iconic statues of the Swimming Retriever and Hannah.
According to the AKC-CHF, Lilly will oversee CHF operations at its Raleigh headquarters, including supervising day-to-day activities, grant administration, financial management, and development.
Founded in 1995, CHF is devoted solely to canine health research, funding more than $40 million in scientific research and education to help owners ensure their dogs lead longer, healthier lives. NC State researchers have received more than $3 million from the CHF—the most of any college of veterinary medicine.
