CVM Ranks Third in Nation for Internship, Residency Match Program
The North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine ranks third in the nation in the percentage of DVM graduates accepted for internships or residencies through the Veterinary Internship and Residency Matching Program (VIRMP).
Sponsored by the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians, the VIRMP follows principles established by the Physicians National Intern and Resident Matching Program to expedite the selection of interns and residents for participating veterinary colleges and private veterinary practices.
The NC State CVM had 23 of 36 students (six applicants withdrew) accepted by organizations participating in the national match program for a rate of 76.67 percent. The percentage for Washington State CVM is 77.50 and for Tufts CVM the rate is 77.14.
In addition, the CVM House Officer (residents and interns) specialty training program and research funding rank among the top five veterinary programs, the faculty to student ratio is near the top, and the CVM itself is ranked among the top five of the nation’s 28 colleges of veterinary medicine by U.S. News and World Report.
