As the new floating clinical technician at the NC State Veterinary Hospital, every day is different for Megan Millman. But Millman’s mission always remains the same: providing extraordinary care for companion animals.

Originally from Oriental, N.C., near New Bern, she brings a strong passion for animals and a background in large animal medicine, general practice and emergency care with her to NC State. She is excited to learn from the best of the best.

What made you want to go into veterinary medicine?

While at St. Andrews University [in Laurinburg, N.C.], I took a lot of veterinary medicine classes that helped awaken my passion for the field. From there, I completed a degree in veterinary medical technology at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, N.C.

What will you be doing in your new role?

A floating clinical technician is a unique role. I provide needed assistance to all clinical services in the hospital, including dermatology, oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, soft tissue and emergency. I am available to all services to help out anytime.

What are you most excited about?

I am excited about expanding my knowledge as a registered veterinary technician and being able to work so closely with some of the greatest minds in veterinary medicine.

When you’re not on campus, where could we find you?

In downtown Raleigh enjoying the many restaurants or cuddling on the couch with my pets.

What’s something someone would be surprised to learn about you?

I love everything to do with Broadway musicals. My favorite is either “The Lion King” or “Dear Evan Hansen.” Both are visually stunning with a great message. The music is also fantastic.

Tell us about your pets?

I have three cats named Chiquita, Aria and Baby, a golden retriever named Ivy and a betta fish named Fish.
