Comparative Pain Research Lab Studies Potentially Arthritic Cats
The Comparative Pain Research Laboratory is conducting an eight-week feline nutritional supplement clinical trial for potentially arthritic cats that may show signs of slowing down such as decreased ability to run, jump, walk, climb stairs, play, or groom.
The study, which could be beneficial in relieving the pet’s pain, is being supervised by Dr. Duncan Lascelles and involves sprinkling a dietary supplement on the cat’s food. Study participants will wear a small, collar-fitted activity monitor and information from the monitor will be collected every two weeks along with a questionnaire that the owner will complete.
As part of the study, qualified participants will receive an orthopedic exam, comprehensive blood work, and radiography (if needed) without charge to the owner. For more information, please call 919.513.6854 or e-mail cvm_cprl@ncsu.edu.
