Hector Cervantes, who earned an Avian Medicine Internship Diploma from the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, and who also served as adjunct faculty at the College from 1995 to 2013, is one of three poultry professionals recently inducted into the Latin American Poultry Hall of Fame during a ceremony in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Every two years, new members are selected by committee based on their outstanding contributions to the development of the poultry industry and honored during a ceremony at the Latin American Poultry Congress. Cervantes is currently Senior Manager, Poultry Veterinary Services, North American Region,  for Phibro Animal Health located in Athens, Georgia, and currently serves as the President of the American Association of Avian Pathologists. He is also the past president of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. He earned his DVM from the National University of Mexico in Mexico City.

“Although I am originally from Mexico, my entire career has been in the U.S. which makes my induction into the Latin American Poultry Association Hall of Fame even more remarkable and gratifying.” said Cervantes.

Benjamín Ruíz, editor of Industria Avícola magazine, introduced the new members and presented them with an award in recognition of their leadership in the poultry industry. The others, in addition to Cervantes, were Hebert Eduardo Trenchi Casa of Uruguay and Jaime Crivelli Espinoza of Mexico.

The Latin American Poultry Hall of Fame was established in 1987 to recognize individuals who have dedicated their careers to advancing the Latin American poultry industry. The Hall of Fame is presented by WATT Global Media and Industria Avícola magazine, in cooperation with the Latin American Poultry Association (ALA).
